What do you get if you cross every single fantasy role-playing game with the developers behind Grand Theft Horse? Yet Another Fantasy Title. That’s what. If you’re wondering what to expect, the release trailer for this rib-tickling new title from Atomic Wolf and Games Operators is a seemingly bottomless font of wisdom and ludicrousness.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll experience should you watch the trailer: You’ll see a hero knocked off of his horse by you, a common outlaw who would ‘normally be prey for the protagonist in some sidequest.’ You’ll see the typical dark forest and a mix of the highly exaggerated fantasy creatures you’d expect in a fantasy RPG. You’ll hear a soundtrack that simultaneously slaps and makes you thirst for a flagon of mead. You’ll also see horses with police sirens. Yes, that is the level of comic relief this game reaches as it pokes fun at every serious fantasy RPG in existence.

Game Operators are famous for publishing parody games. The most exciting until now has been Rustler – AKA Grand Theft Horse – a parody of the first two generations of the Grant Theft Auto experience but set in the middle ages. This latest entry in the AAA-title parody game genre has much in common with Rustler in that it is also a top-down game with horses.

Where Rustler featured comical takes on some of the tropes commonly associated with Grand Theft Auto games, this one parodies the tropes found in fantasy RPGs. Therefore, expect loads of magic and enchantments, too many sidequests to handle, and more medieval weapons than you’ll ever truly need. You can also count on a dragon needing to be slain. It would otherwise not be a true parody of the fantasy RPG genre.

Judging from the trailer, the developers even parodied the usually striking fantasy surroundings that games like these throw you headfirst into. The environment is even more strikingly ambient, alive, and overall really difficult to tear your eyes away from.

Yet Another Fantasy Title is in development exclusively for PC, at the moment. If you want to take a crack at the madness and mayhem showcased in the incredibly visually appealing trailer, you can wishlist the game on Steam. For other fantasy news, it looks like Lord of the Rings content is coming to MetVersus.

I hail from the awe-inspiring beauty of South Africa. Born and raised in Pretoria, I've always had a deep interest in local history, particularly conflicts, architecture, and our country's rich past of being a plaything for European aristocracy. 'Tis an attempt at humor. My interest in history has since translated into hours at a time researching everything from the many reasons the Titanic sank (really, it's a wonder she ever left Belfast) to why Minecraft is such a feat of human technological accomplishment. I am an avid video gamer (Sims 4 definitely counts as video gaming, I checked) and particularly enjoy playing the part of a relatively benign overlord in Minecraft. I enjoy the diverse experiences gaming offers the player. Within the space of a few hours, a player can go from having a career as an interior decorator in Sims, to training as an archer under Niruin in Skyrim. I believe video games have so much more to teach humanity about community, kindness, and loyalty, and I enjoy the opportunity to bring concepts of the like into literary pieces.
